I had the opportunity to work with Vic Fade International (VFI), a fashion-forward denim brand that focuses on sustainability and innovation. The goal was to design a user-friendly website that effectively communicated VFI's mission and showcased its premium denim collections. The design needed to not only appeal to industry professionals but also foster trust and confidence among potential clients through clarity and transparency.

What Did I Do?
As a product designer for VFI, I focused on creating an engaging and user-friendly experience that allowed users to interact seamlessly with the brand's website. The main feature I developed was a visual storytelling assistant that transformed vague or complex product browsing queries into intuitive, multi-step journeys, allowing users to easily explore VFI’s premium denim collections and sustainable practices.
How could I Transform Complicated User Interactions into Engaging, Multi-Step Journeys?
"I want a website that feels simple and easy to use, where I can quickly find what I’m looking for without any hassle" - Rose Ramirez, July 2024.
The core challenge was to take the often frustrating experience of navigating through detailed product pages or sustainability information and transform it into a smooth, multi-step exploration. I wanted to empower users to refine their searches and interactions through a series of visual prompts and interactive elements that made it easy for them to engage with the content.

Why Is This Needed?
Many users, especially those unfamiliar with sustainable fashion or VFI’s unique offerings, struggled to effectively browse or find what they were looking for. I solved this by simplifying the interaction process, allowing users to guide their exploration through clear visuals and interactions, bridging the gap between what users want to know and what VFI offers.
Who Benefits from This?
The target users for this feature are fashion professionals, designers, and eco-conscious consumers interested in sustainable denim. These individuals are typically looking for high-quality, eco-friendly products but may need extra guidance to fully understand VFI’s unique offerings.
What Does This Mean?
For Users:
Enhanced control over the browsing process.
Increased efficiency in finding relevant collections or sustainability information.
Improved understanding of VFI’s offerings, leading to higher engagement and trust.
A smoother, more intuitive browsing experience that reduces the time spent clarifying or refining searches.
For VFD:
Improved user engagement and retention through seamless interactions.
Increased user satisfaction as users experience the website more intuitively.
Stronger brand loyalty and higher adoption rates, as users are more likely to return and explore additional products or collaborations.
Greater alignment with the brand’s mission of promoting sustainable fashion through clearer communication and storytelling.
How can we make the VFD website intuitive enough for industry professionals, yet detailed enough to showcase the brand's sustainable practices and premium collections without overwhelming the users?
VFD's target audience consists of fashion professionals and denim enthusiasts, who need to quickly assess VFI’s expertise, collection quality, and sustainability practices. However, if the website becomes too complex or cluttered, potential clients may feel overwhelmed and disengage.

How did I solve it:
User-Centered Research
To solve this problem, I began by understanding the needs and behaviors of VFI’s target users. I researched how industry professionals, such as denim brand managers and designers, interact with websites in the fashion and textile industry
Breaking the Scope into Phases
Phase 1: I designed a minimalistic homepage that showcased VFI's core offerings—collections, sustainability, and production capabilities—using bold visuals and concise content for immediate impact.
Phase 2: I implemented clear navigation and section headings to help users easily access relevant content, such as collections and the “About” page, without unnecessary scrolling.
Phase 3: To enhance credibility, I highlighted partnerships with industry leaders like Artistic Milliners and created a dedicated sustainability section detailing VFI's eco-friendly practices, fostering trust with users seeking ethical fashion.
Iterative Prototyping and Testing
After developing an initial design, I created interactive prototypes and conducted usability testing with real users. Through this process, I received valuable feedback on how the users experienced the website. For example, some users found the collections page difficult to navigate, so I refined the layout to allow quicker access to detailed information about each collection.
Integrating Feedback and Fine-Tuning
I refined the design based on both user and stakeholder feedback, ensuring that important information about sustainability was easily accessible without detracting from the core user experience. The final design struck a balance between simplicity and depth—delivering key details to users while maintaining an intuitive, fast interface.
What Did I Learn from This Project?
Through this project, I gained a deeper understanding of how critical it is to balance visual storytelling with user-centric design. I learned the importance of simplifying complex interactions to make the user journey more intuitive and engaging, particularly when dealing with detailed content like sustainability practices and premium product offerings. I also realized how valuable feedback loops are in refining design decisions, as user feedback plays a key role in shaping the final product.
This experience emphasized that clear communication and interactive design can significantly enhance user satisfaction, leading to better engagement and stronger trust in the brand. Additionally, I improved my ability to collaborate across teams, taking into account both business goals and user needs to create a cohesive and effective digital experience.
